How a week flows

Our departure port is Göcek or Marmaris. The 6-night, 7-day courses are run in accordance with the Turkish Sailing Federation's national TUYEP curriculum and the International Yacht Training Academy's international IYTA program.

Training and accommodation take place on 42-foot Jeanneau yachts with 3 cabins, 3 showers, 2 WCs and a galley. On arrival you first receive a briefing, then settle into the cabin where you will spend the whole week. Next, the TUYEP course books for your level are handed out. Each night we stay in a different bay, either at alargo or at the pier. Every day there is free time until 11:00 in the morning and after 17:00 in the evening; you can spend it hiking, swimming or resting.

Following the TYF TUYEP curriculum, each day we do 1–2 hours of theory on the board and in the booklets and 5–6 hours of hands-on practice at the helm. On the last day there is an exam: with a single test you can earn dual certification (national TYF YY and/or international IYTA license). The exam is optional; students who wish may take part.

Some of the topics coveredWind · Sail Aerodynamics · Maneuvers · Rigging · COLREGs · Anchoring · Navigation · Departing-Mooring · MOB · Hove-to · Reefing · Hazards & Accidents.
DebriefAt the end of every day except the last, a one-to-one personal end-of-day debrief is held with each trainee.
